Bucs play “home” game in Germany, heavy traffic around Raymond James Stadium reported

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Seattle Seahawks 21-16 earlier today in Munich, Germany. Traffic around Raymond James stadium was reported to be slow-moving and congested, due to road closures and vehicle routing.

“I don’t know why this is a surprise to anyone; we’ve had Buccaneer football for almost 50 years at this point. Game day traffic is handled differently than regular commuter traffic. Everybody knows that. We have a proven system of facilitating egress where we always close streets and send traffic several miles away from the stadium without allowing turns north, south, east and west after home games”, said Tampa Police Chief Mary O’Conner. “The fact that a home game takes place almost 5,000 miles from here is not going to change the way we do things.”

Motorists are advised to allow for extra time travelling on Dale Mabry Hwy., Himes Ave., Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. and Hillsborough Avenue for the next several hours, until police open roads and orange traffic cones and signage is collected, roughly until the team’s flight from Germany arrives home in Tampa.
