Audience Members Interrupt Community AI Forum
A community forum at the University of South Florida (USF) on the possible threats and benefits of artificial intelligence (AI) with Professor Norman Hemming, Dean of Technology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was cut short due to the attention-diverting presence of two people in the audience last night.
“To be clear, I’m not anti AI. I just Rick Scott… err, I mean I believe AI needs to be properly regulated,” he began, immediately distracted. “I’m sorry, there’s a bald-headed, bug-eyed man in my line of sight who strongly resembles the Republican junior United States senator and former governor from Florida. If he could be relocated to a different seat, I can continue.”
The man was moved to a different seat in the auditorium and the professor resumed his remarks.
“Now, the worst case scenario in simplest terms would be that AI becomes so intelligent that it… oh my God, are you serious? Now there’s a gentleman sitting there who looks like the representative for Florida’s first congressional district and likely pedophile Matt Gaetz!”
That man was relocated and seated next to the first man, which Professor Hemming deemed unacceptable and immediately ended his presentation.
Reached for comment afterward, the bald one said, “I don’t understand; I didn’t come here to cause problems. I just wanted to learn how to use AI to write emails and own the wokes.”
The square-headed one added, “I really thought there’d be more young guys here tonight.”
