DeSantis Said to Admire Nancy Mace’s Craftsmanship
An unnamed source who works in the state capital office with Ron DeSantis says the Florida governor has expressed admiration for the work being done by South Carolina State Representative Nancy Mace.
“As a dedicated practitioner of the art of theatrically pandering to a niche audience about insignificant matters, Governor DeSantis appreciates the craftsmanship she’s showing in bullying incoming transgender congresswoman Sarah McBride from Delaware by trying to bar her from using the bathroom,” the source said. “Going so far as to enact legislation to make that happen is next level petty bigotry that a fellow craftsman can’t help but admire.”
“When he saw that she Tweeted about it 326 times in 72 hours, a rate of a Tweet less than every 15 minutes for three straight days, he said ‘this kid has got it!’,” said the source. “And by ‘it’ he means ‘nothing else to do, like working on issues that actually impact her constituents’.”
“That, and possibly a nice, healthy level of autism,” they added.
“If there’s one thing Governor DeSantis knows, it’s that the key to effectively fighting a culture war, aside from starting it yourself, is commitment,” they said. “It doesn’t matter how stupid and ultimately meaningless the premise is, if you commit to appearing to believe it, you’ll find idiots who believe you believe it.”
“From there, it’s relatively easy to convince them that it somehow affects their lives.”
The source said DeSantis hopes to meet Mace to express his admiration in person soon, possibly at a high-level government meeting in Washington DC or a casual book burning get-together in either Florida or South Carolina.
