Jelly Roll Performs at Tampa Couple’s Apartment
After the Morgan Wallen concert at Raymond James Stadium was postponed, superstar Jelly Roll performed Friday night at various small local venues including the Water Street apartment of Matt and Katy Hooferman.
“We got a knock on the door at around 4am and it was Jelly Roll,” said Matt. “He said he was in town and just wanted to perform somewhere.”
“I like Jelly Roll’s music and we were up answering a stranger knocking on the door at 4am anyway, so we said sure,” said Katy.
Jelly Roll was set to take the stage prior to Wallen’s performance earlier Friday night, but the concert was postponed with Wallen citing illness as the reason.
After Wallen’s announcement, Jelly Roll hastily scheduled a show at the Dallas Bull and posted on social media that anyone with a ticket to the Friday concert could get in for free until the venue reached capacity.
Not sated by that experience, the Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and rapper dropped in for short sets at the Reservoir Bar in Ybor City and the WaWa on North 50th Street before ending up at the Hooferman residence later.
“I just love performing so much and I didn’t want to disappoint the fans in Tampa Bay”, said Jelly Roll. “Now who wants breakfast?”
