Lightning Fan’s Prediction Finally Coming True

Tampa Bay Lightning fan Grady McTracey’s reaction to the news that Lightning owner Jeff Vinik is planning to sell his majority stake in the team was justified satisfaction.

“A HA! I told you guys,” he said. “When he came in and bought the team in 2010, I said Vinik is a hedge fund guy and I correctly predicted that he would just come in and flip the team for a quick profit because that’s what hedge fund guys do. I knew this is exactly what would happen.”

“You could find it on a blog post I published 14 years ago if my blog still existed,” he added. “I remember when I wrote it; I was listening to Kesha’s hit song ‘Tik Tok’ and it was the post right after I said that ‘Avatar’ would eventually be a bigger franchise than ‘Star Wars’ and the one right before I blasted Obama for having failed his first term as President of the United States because gas was $2.63 a gallon.”

“So once again, Tampa Bay sports fans are exploited by some guy coming into town, making a quick buck and then dumping a team we all care deeply about,” he said. “And all we get out of it is three conference championships, two Stanley Cups, an all-star weekend, serious investments into local arts and culture and millions of dollars donated to a variety of non-profits and charitable causes. What a rip-off.”
