RNC Talent Coordinator Sick of Always Having to Book Kid Rock
Sarah Gilhaldo, the talent coordinator for the Republican National Convention (RNC) is getting tired of always having to book Kid Rock to perform.
“Every four years, it’s the same thing,” she said. “I book all these diver… err, different acts and then my boss looks at the schedule and says, ‘yeah, whatever; when’s Kid Rock?’, because basically he has an automatic spot and that’s all anybody cares about because we can’t afford to alienate Kid Rock.”
“Although, based on what I see in county fair bookings, he needs us more than we need him,” she added.
“Like, I know our options are severely limited simply because of who we are and that most artists want nothing to do with us, which is why almost every time we use a song for anything, we get in trouble because it’s without permission,” she said. “But does that mean less-hygienic Vanilla Ice has to be part of this EVERY time?”
She said she’s concerned that her frustration is starting to be reflected in her job performance.
“I just think it would be nice for a change if some of the acts we book to entertain our guests reflected a wider variety that represents the people who actually make up America,” she said. “And now I’m going to go clean out my desk because by saying that aloud, I know I’m fired.”
