Tampa Republican Organization Books Entertainment for Annual Function

The South Tampa Young Republicans Club has booked a band to play at their annual Funky Fall Fling tomorrow night at Botchello’s Authentic Italian Yet Somehow Not Excessively Ethnic Bistro.

“This year, we’re pleased to welcome all the way from El Paso, Texas – at least that’s what’s on their paperwork, ha ha – The Black Jobs,” said chapter president and party planning committee chairman Douglas Gregmaier. “They’re an authentic funk cover band from Mexico and they’re fantastic.”

“Well, I haven’t heard them play but they’re a lot cheaper than any local funk bands,” he said. “We tried to tell you this would happen.”

“You should come out! We’re celebrating the stretch run to the election on November 5th and how great President Trump did in the debate the other night by getting down on it! They’re going to play Bruno Mars and Kool & The Gang and all the other ones I’ve never heard of. Then, when the party is over, they’re going to clean up! Ha ha! I’m kidding, I’m kidding,” he said. “It’s gonna be a stone solid groove, my main man!”

Sofia González, the band’s lead singer said, “I don’t know what he’s talking about. I keep telling him our name is Los Nuevos Trovadores, that we’re a traditional Mexican mariachi quintet and that we don’t play any funk music. He made that silly poster. We’re going to play our usual set. It will be good, classic Mexican folk music but it’s not going to be funky.”

“Also, all five of us were born and raised in Brandon,” she added.
