Tampa Volunteer Seeks Admin Position
Brad Winkler, a Tampa man with good, sincere intentions but who is also aware of his strengths and weaknesses, wants to help in local recovery efforts following the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton hitting the Tampa Bay Area, but wants to serve in a particular capacity.
“Physical labor really isn’t my thing and I’m not very good at cooking and distributing meals,” he said. “Is there something I could do that would involve holding a clipboard? Because I’m pretty good at that.”
“I could also not only hold it and carry it around, I could also highlight various line items on paperwork on that clipboard and then communicate with someone remotely via walkie-talkie about it,” he added. “Because I can multitask.”
“I’m not afraid to work hard; it’s just that I know what kind of work I’m good at and where I would be most effective,” he said. “You give me a clipboard and some highlighters and just watch me go!”
“For instance, I wouldn’t mind staying very late into the night to sort the highlighted clipboard paperwork alphabetically if necessary, even if that means doing it while seated in some sort of temporary mobile office set-up with a wall unit air conditioner. That kind of thing does not intimidate me when so many people need help,” he added.
So far, no relief organizations, even the ones that say any help at all would make a meaningful impact and be appreciated, have taken him up on his offer but all promised they would be in touch.
