Woman Who Said We Need the Rain Shunned

Delores Goldsbury, a staff member at a business company in Tampa has been shunned and ridiculed by co-workers because of her stated opinion that we really need all rain we’ve been getting lately.

“Uhh, no we don’t,” countered Mark Wibbs, a colleague, after she said it yesterday.

“What are we? Ducks?”, he added, drawing uproarious laughter from everyone else in the office.

“I guess I do say that a lot and we have been getting plenty of rain, almost every day,” admitted Goldsbury. “The thing is, I’m married with two kids and my personal life isn’t very exciting compared to everyone else with their dating and going out to clubs and concerts adventure stories. This was my way of trying to fit in and participate. Well, I won’t be saying it again.”

Carl Anthony, another co-worker is not entirely unsympathetic to Goldsbury’s situation.

“When she said it in May, when there was that extended dry spell, it made sense. All the grass and plants were dying. We did need the rain,” he said. “But now it rains every damn day, like it does every summer in Florida. We definitely don’t need it.”

“I know trying to be part of an established social structure in the workplace is difficult but just saying something silly is not a way in,’ he said. “If she really wants to be part of The Gang, I’d suggest she spend the weekend watching TikTok videos and come in Monday morning ready to talk about those.”

“As much as I would like to be accepted by everybody in the office, I have limits,” said Goldsbury.
