Study Reveals Real Reason for Dissatisfaction Within the Service Industry
People being unhappy with working in the service industry started drawing attention during the COVID-19 pandemic but it’s a trend that continues today. New data from a study by researchers at the University of South Florida (USF) reveals the surprising real reason.
“Bar and restaurant customers taking a shit in a urinal happens much more frequently than previously believed,” said Dr. Soome Guzhma, head USF researcher. “That behavior was thought to be anomalous but it occurs in every establishment in Ybor City at least once a weekend, sometimes even more frequently, depending on special ocassions like holidays, birthdays, Gasparilla or sports teams doing well.”
Sarah Freep, who recently resigned from her position as a bartender at a popular bar in Ybor said, “Customers would act like they didn’t know not to shit in the urinals if I didn’t warn them not to, but some of them wouldn’t think to do it until I mentioned. I couldn’t win.”
“It was either find another job or murder someone. The stress level was impossible”, said Ben Sturmond, a former server at one of Tampa’s oldest and well-regarded restaurants who now works for the bomb disposal squad at the airport.
