DeSantis Serves Tropical Drinks to Outdoor Workers
After signing a new law last week that prevents cities or counties from creating protections for workers who labor in the state’s often extreme and dangerous heat in employment sectors like agriculture and construction, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was spotted delivering a tray of refreshing rum drinks to a group of construction workers.
“It’s important that the people who do these important and often dangerous jobs know that just because we don’t feel a need to legally protect them from utterly brutal conditions, we still appreciate them and what they do,” he said. “So, voila! It’s happy hour. For the next 20 minutes and then it’s back to your toils. Also, I need to get back inside because it’s hot out here. Hoo boy!”
“I’m glad they were construction guys and not farm hands because I don’t know how to say ‘drink up, boys’ in Spanish,” he added. “I’m joking of course, but I really don’t.”
