Schadenfreude still more popular leisure activity than Pickleball
Pickleball, the recreational sport in which two or four players hit a perforated, hollow plastic ball with paddles over a 34-inch-high net until one side is unable to return the ball or commits a rule infraction, has proven to be a wildly popular leisure activity in America.
“I love it”, said avid pickleballer Margot Croptop of St. Petersburg. “It’s a great workout, I get plenty of fresh air and sunshine plus it’s so much fun as a social activity.”
“Still, it doesn’t even touch the high I felt when I found out a girl I went to high school with recently lost her job and her husband within a period of less than two weeks AND was in a car accident. She may never walk again,” she added. “I still get the giggles just thinking about that.”
“Pickleball at its best isn’t nearly as satisfying as experiencing even a low level of suffering by someone dealing with misfortune .”
